Getting accustomed to a new role can be tough. There is a lot of information coming your way, new people to meet, and the processes that you learned at your old role do not quite translate over.

We have all worked at jobs that have left us wholly unprepared to tackle our daily tasks – the common theme in like situations is that there were no real opportunities for training. But how can you ensure that you are set up for success? The best way that Flexco has found is by having an onboarding and training process in place that gets new hires up to speed.

This is something that Echo Luo, Flexco China Customer Manager, can personally attest to.

Personal Training Leads to Team Building

By offering a multitude of structured training and educational offerings, Echo and her fellow employees have been able to become the most high-level customer support providers in the industry.

One such initiative that Echo noted was incredibly beneficial was their bi-weekly product training sessions. Every two weeks, the region’s managers arrange hands-on, interactive training with Flexco’s latest product developments, allowing staff to ask questions and get more comfortable with the solutions they will be working with. In turn, they are much more confident when working with customers and give them a sense of support from their leaders.

“The effort to actually train our staff is something that we all greatly appreciate,” said Echo. “Often, a job might give you a surface-level overview of the products you are selling and then leave you on your own. The leaders at Flexco China firmly believe the best way to train us is to constantly put us in front of our products – I think this is one factor that has really helped me on the job and has allowed me to flourish in my role.”

Echo has also found immense value in Flexco’s state-of-the-art eLearning platform, Flexco University. Designed for both external customers and internal Flexco employees, Flexco University offers hundreds of hours of content and courses that are designed to get users up to speed on anything from the basics of belt conveyor systems, down to the intricacies of how a certain product works. After completing our Flexco Essentials course, employees are consistently ready to hit the ground running.

Additionally, the network of partners Flexco has built is available to all employees, especially for learning purposes. For example, if a member of marketing is working on a blog for the cement industry, they may tag along with a territory manager to visit a cement plant, or if a member of sales would like to understand how a certain belt cleaner works for a food processing plant, they may do the same. Overall, our on-site visits are incredibly effective and are designed to give attendees the opportunity to ask questions and learn in an open environment.

People First to Customer Pain Points

When Echo started her journey at Flexco, her regional team was relatively small. As time has gone on, though, she has seen Flexco China expand to over 20 employees; this can be attributed to their consistent and strategic effort to build a more inclusive, collaborative environment.

Through a revamp of the company’s vision and values in recent years, Flexco has emphasized making an investment in our most valuable resources: our people.

But what exactly does that entail? Yes, it includes things like increased safety measures and taking a more holistic approach to analyze how our decisions impact others, but it also preaches simple action points that focus on demonstrating kindness, empathy, appreciation, and respect for all.

“There was always a sense of politeness and cordiality at Flexco, but by putting it into writing and stating its importance in the ‘People First’ value of our vision and values has been great to see,” said Echo. “This principle has brought a sense of comradery to our team and has made our efforts to work together cohesive.”

By focusing on each Flexco employee's unique needs, our on-the-job environment has become much more comfortable working together, helping us to attract more high-end talent. In turn, our team has made the effort to do the same for our customers, uncovering more of their pain points and finding more success in their individual roles.

We firmly believe that our employees’ success is just as important as ours. The People First value, among other factors, ensures we continue our investment in our own, and has allowed us to continue to prosper.

Here for the Long Run

Sticking with one company for nearly two decades is practically unheard of. At Flexco, that sentiment could not be further from the truth; the people that work here, stay here. Why? We actively create and live out our culture and values.

“I have a lot of satisfaction in my role, and I know that those that I work with feel similarly about theirs,” reports Echo. “It is not often you see a company offer a comprehensive support system like Flexco’s, let alone the other benefits and leadership opportunities that are made available to us. For those reasons and more, I can see a real future with Flexco.”

Whether it is Echo Luo or one of our dozens of other employees that have been with Flexco for over a decade, we remain dedicated to bringing on and keeping the most talented industry players possible.
